  5. Organised the  National Level Function for 750th  Birth  Day celebration of   Sri   Madhvacharya   at   which Shri R. Venkataraman, the then President of India was the Chief Guest of Honor (1988).  

  6. Designated as Chancellor of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (Deemed University), Tirupati, (Since 1998) in recognition of the contributions made to the Sanskrit literature and Indology.

  18.  Encouraging activities for promoting awareness about the relevance of Sanskrit and Sanskrit literature for the contemporary physical and social science.  In  this connection: 

    Organised a major exhibition on Sanskrit and Science at the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati on the Occasion of the Convocation Function in April 2000.  A monograph on "Sanskrit and Science" had been brought out by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati .

                Launched an innovative project called "SANSK-NET" with a view to link up the manuscript
                libraries of Sanskrit Institutions by the use of computer and to encourage computer culture in
                the Sanskrit world.

  19. Was invited by the Sampoornananda Sanskrit University to be the Chief Guest at the Inaugural Function of Vidwat Sadas.  Delivered lecture on "Sanskrit and Contemporary Challenges" and presented Three Slokas on Sampoornananda Sanskrit University composed by him.  (September 2000)

  •   Published a book entitled "Bharathasya Arthika Sarvekshnam - Economic Survey of India" in Sanskrit -
      first of its kind : Foreword by Justice Ranganath Misra, Chairman, Central Sanskrit Board, Govt. of India
      and Professor Satya Vrat Sastri, Vice-Chancellor, Jaganath Sanskrit Viswavidyalaya, Puri.     

  •   Published a book entitled "Bhagavad Gita and Mind". Compilation of the lectures delivered at Vienna,
      Austria and St. Louis, Columbia, USA.  

  •   A book on Hindi Translation of the Purandara Dasa Songs is being published by the Dasa Sahitya
      Project of Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam, Tirupati.  

  •   Published a book of English Translation of Brahma Sutras.  

  •   Has edited a number of rare manuscripts in Sanskrit with notes and translation into  English and  
      Kannada.

RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS IN INDOLOGY

   

Trained in Sanskrit literature and Sastras in the traditional style at the feet of revered father Vidyaratna Shri R.S. Panchamukhi as Guru who was honoured with the titles of Vidyabushana, Maha Mahimopadhyaya, Vidyaratna, etc.  and who was also the recipient of the President's Certificate of Honor in Sanskrit.

          Even while in school, the level of Sanskrit learnt at home by Dr V.R. Panchamukhi was that of M.A. in Sanskrit.  He gave examinations in Kavya, Panini's Vyakarana, Tarka Sastra, and Vedanta in different Vidwat Sabhas and won awards.  Delivered lectures in Sanskrit in the Vidwat Sabhas while studying in the school.

Research work and publications in Sanskrit and in Indology of Dr V.R. Panchamukhi include the following:  

1.      Bhagvad Gita and the Mind:  (Published) The book is based upon the lectures delivered at the Afro-Asian Centre in Vienna (while working in the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), Vienna in 1982).

2.      Relevance of Dharma Sastra in Modern Times  (Mimeo):  Lecture delivered at the seminar on "The Scope of Dharma-Sastra in Modern Times" organized by Department of Sanskrit, Miranda House, University of Delhi.

3.      Sri Badarinath Yatra Varnanam:  (Published)      English Text and Verses in Sanskrit composed on Sri Badarinatha Yatra from Haridwar to Badarinath.

4.      Thirtha Rupa Charitam: (in press) The life story of revered father Vidyaratna Shri R.S. Panchamukhi (more than 300 Sanskrit Verses on the life history, achievements, and attributes of revered father).  

5.      Vedic Foundation of Economic Science (Mimeo): Lecture delivered at the Centenary Celebrations of H.H. Jagadguru Sri Sankaracharya of Kanchi (Periya Swamigal) at a function in Delhi presided over by Hon'ble Shri R. Venkataraman, former President of India.         

6.      Rashtrapati Pras'asti Vijetrinam Pras'astih: Verses composed in honor of the recipients of the President's Certificate of Honor in Sanskrit.

7.      KuSow Kamalamma Pras'astih: Verses composed as a tribute to revered mother-in-law.

8.      Bharatiyam Arthasastram: Book in Sanskrit on economics published by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, as part of their publications on the occasion of the 50 years of Independence; Hailed by the scholars as the first book of its kind.

9.      Indian Ethos of Development and Management (Mimeo): Lectures delivered on several occasions at Management Seminars and Workshops.

 

Shri Purandara Dasa's Bhakti Geethas with English and Hindi Translation (in press) A book meant for the Hindi speaking people for acquainting them with the rich literature produced by Sri Purandara Dasa, the grandfather of the Karnataka music.  Hindi renderings of

1.      the Purandara Dasa songs are done in such a way that they can be sung as devotional songs.  A cassette of the Hindi version of the Purandara Dasa songs contained in this book is also under preparation.  (This exercise of Hindi rendering of Purandara Dasa Songs was undertaken at the instance of Shri Shankar Dayal Sharma, the then President of India).

2.      The works of Shri Raghavendra Tirtha with Hindi Translation (in press) and in Computer readable form: This great task has been launched and is now under implementation.

3.      Socio-Economic Thoughts in the Indian Classical Literature (in Press)   

4.      A research project aimed at bringing out the main Socio-Economic Thoughts contained in the Indian Classical Literature (This project is under implementation as a collaborative exercise with Dr P.R. Panchamukhi and Dr A.R. Panchamukhi).

5.      Readings in Sanskrit Relevant for Management and Economic Students (under preparation): Compilation of select readings in Sanskrit on themes like management, development, efficiency, environment, labour, etc.  The compilation is from Puranas, Vedas, and Sanskrit literature.  The English and Hindi translations of Sanskrit texts are also under preparation.

6.      "Sri Yogidra Taravali"  (Published):      Edited the Sanskrit text with translation and extensive notes, this composition of Sri Sumatindra Tirtha of 17th Century.

7.      Badarayana's Brahma Sutras (Published): English translation of all the 564 Brahmasutras - gist and notes according to Madhwa philosophy.

8.      Sri Raghavendra Stotram (Published):      English translation and extensive notes on Sri Raghavendra Stotram of Sri Appannacharya (of 17th century).  

9.      Sri Manyu Suktam (Published):      Edited the Sanskrit commentary of Sri Sri Dhirendra Tirtha of 19th Century, with translation of the Sukta in English and Kannada.

10.  Sri Purusha Suktam (Published): English translation with notes.

11.  SrimanMadhwa Mantrartha Manjari (Published): Edited with translation and notes, the rare Sanskrit Manuscript entitled "Sri ManMadhwa Manthartha Manjari - a composition of Sri Vaiswanathi Narayanacharya - a scholar of 16th century.

12.  Sri Raghavendra Tirtha - An Apostle of Peace, Bliss, and Harmony (Published):Book providing an account of messages of Sri  Raghavendra Tirtha, for our everyday life, based on his charitram and his works.

13.  Sapta Ratrotsava C'ampu Bhava Bodhini (Published): Commentary in Sanskrit on the monumental work (320 pages) in Sanskrit entitled "Sri Raghavendra Sapta Ratrotsava C'ampu" composed by Vidya Ratna Sri R.S. Panchamukhi.  The Sanskrit commentary gives insights into Vyakarana, Alankara, Vritta and other special features of the C'ampu.

14.  Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama and Vedas (Mimeo): Brings out the vedic foundations of Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama.

15.  Srimad Bhagavadgita and Upanishads (Mimeo): Brings out the concordance that exists between Sri Bhagavadgita and Upanishads.  (Gita is described as the nectar from the Cow of Upanishads).

16.  Vicharavaibhavam (Essays on Indology): Collection of speeches delivered and Articles written on Indology, published by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati.

17.  Arthikam Sarvekshanam: Economic Survey of India (In Sanskrit): Published by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati. Written in Sanskrit on the main developments in the Indian Economy in the recent periods.  One of the purposes of this book is to demonstrate that Sanskrit can be used for communicating issues of contemporary relevance.

18.  Indian Classical Thoughts on Economic Development and Management: This book aims at presenting some of the Indian classical thoughts on economic development and management drawn out from the Indian classical literature.

1.      At the S.S.C. examination, won the coveted Sankara Seth Scholarship in Sanskrit for scoring the second highest marks in Sanskrit at the S.S.C. Board, Pune.  (This was perhaps the first time when a student from Dharwad got this distinction)

2.      Honoured by Sri Sameera Samaya Samvardhini Sabha of Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, Mantralayam with the title S'astra Kovida.

3.      Honoured by Sri Parimala Samshodhan Sansthan, Nanjangude and Bangalore with the title Madhwabhushana.  

4.      Honoured by Delhi Karnataka Sangha with a certificate of 'Vishistha Kannadiga'.
