The Indian Economic Journal is the professional quarterly organ of the Indian Economic Association. The Indian Economic Association has now completed 85 years. Its members consist of teachers and scholars of economics in India and abroad, as well as of economists working in the government and various research organisations.

The Indian Economic Journal was founded in 1952-53, by Prof.Vakil, Dr.Balakrishna and Dr.B.V.Krishnamurthy, who were the founding editors on behalf of the Indian Economic Association. After 1955-56, Dr.Lakdawala and Dr.P.R.Brahmananda took the place of Prof.Vakil and Dr.B.V.Krishnamurthy.

The Journal publishes four issues every year. Each issue deals with a specific area of interest. The July-September, concerns Monetary Economics. The October-December deals with Industrial Economics. The January-March covers International Economics. The April-June is concerned with General Economic Theory and related themes.

The Journal has two offices, one at the Department of Economics, Kalina Campus, Mumbai (Bombay) University. Vidyanagari, Santacruz, Mumbai - 400 098.
